What we do

We collect the feeds that news organisations publish themselves, put them in one place, and sort them. Every story is filed under a category and tagged by subject, and stories about the same event are grouped together so you can see how several outlets covered it at once — which is usually more interesting than any one of them on its own.

Reading is free and needs no account. An account adds a feed of only the sources you pick, somewhere to keep the stories you want to come back to, and Harro, which answers questions about your own feed and nothing else. The guide walks through each part and how to use it.

What we do not do

We do not write the news and we do not host it. Every headline here belongs to the organisation that published it, every story links back to their page, and the outlet is named on every card. We take what publishers put in their own public feeds, we send them the reader, and we ask their servers only as often as we need to.

We do not decide what is true. Where outlets disagree — and on figures they often do — we show you that they disagree rather than picking one.

Where the AI is, and is not

Sorting and grouping are done by rules, not by a model: they run over every story, they cost nothing, and they give the same answer twice. A language model is used for two things only — answering your questions about your own feed, and writing the comparison of how outlets covered one event. Both are given the stories and told to work from those alone. Anything written by a model says so where it appears.

Publishers

If you publish a feed we carry and would like it removed, changed, or credited differently, write to us and we will do it. We would rather hear from you than not.

Signed-in readers can raise a ticket, which is read by the people who run the site.
